Scanning a barcode in a shop

Point your phone's camera at a product's barcode and we open its Sooqly page, with every store's price, if we have the product.

Which codes work

The scanner reads EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E and Code 128 barcodes. You can also type the digits: a barcode has 8 to 14 digits.

QR codes are not supported.

What leaves your phone

Only the number. The camera picture is decoded on your phone, in the browser, and never uploaded. If you take a photo of the barcode instead, that photo is decoded on your phone too.

When nothing is found

You see "No product with barcode … yet" and a link to search for the number. It means we do not have the product, or no store gave us its barcode. Search by the product name instead.

Camera problems

The scanner explains each case and offers a fix:

• You blocked the camera. Allow it in your browser's settings for sooqly.ae.
• No camera found. Take a photo of the barcode or type the digits.
• Not a secure connection. Open the page through https.
• The camera is busy. Close other apps or tabs that use it.
